- Learn how to tie an overhand knot and a half knot.
- Demonstrate that you can tie your shoes.
- Make something using knots such as a hair bow or fleece tie blanket.
Suggestions for how pre-teens and tweens can earn the Rope Tying and Knots Patch:
- Learn how to tie 8 basic knots.
- Demonstrate that you can tie a tie.
- Make something using knots such as a friendship bracelet or a macrame plant hanger.

- Learn how to coil rope and lash.
- Demonstrate that you can make a bushcraft tripod.
- Make something useful using lashing such as a camping chair or cooking tripod.
