March is National Craft Month.

If your local service unit, pack, troop or council does not already provide information regarding flag laying at a local national cemetery, your troop can contact them to find out how to register and what you should bring. This patriotic service is performed by scouts and many other organizations annually and is often followed by a very moving ceremony. Don’t forget that flag pick up the following weekend is just as important. The Flag Laying patch is appropriate for scouts of every level.

Your girls will appreciate your providing an opportunity to thank those getting ready to board or coming home from their Honor Flight. Scouts and many other groups gather when veteran’s make their trip to and from an Honor Flight trip to visit a war memorial. This patriotic patch is a special addition to any Scout uniform.

Girls can learn to Respect Authority during a visit from police officers to your troop meeting. Remember to honor police on dates such as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (January 9th) and National Police Week (the week that includes May 15th which is Peace Officers Memorial Day).

Your girls can help make people aware of the opportunity to donate cookies for the military with signs at booth sales and sharing information with their customers. Once your girls understand and promote the military cookie campaign, reward them with a patch.
