Even as a little girl, Lucia loved to cook. She often helped her mother prepare traditional Mexican recipes such as Tortillas, Quesadillas, Enchiladas, Burritos, and Tamales.
Now, Lucia is known as the Concinera del Barrio or, in English, the Neighborhood Cook. Four afternoons a week, Lucia makes a big batch of one of her traditional meals. Friends and neighbors stop by to pick up dinner and enjoy a visit with the concinera.
