Description
Superhero Prudence always uses resources wisely! An important resource is money. She knows it should never be wasted and all purchases should be made with consideration and thought. Prudence will teach your Girls about shopping smart as she guides them step-by-step through the Junior Savvy Shopper badge. She even has some career ideas for your girls who love to shop!
Individual Troop License: Purchase one download for your troop and print as many copies as you need for your girls. The download is for your troop’s use only. For this reason, we limit the number of times you can access this download to two times and it will expire 90 days after purchase.
Service Unit License: Purchase one download for your service unit and share with all your leaders. This license is not limited and does not expire.

I found this very helpful in teaching the savvy shopper badge. My girls enjoyed seeing items from the past and talking about what they would like to have now. We did a price comparison with our snack as well as looking at the comparisons listed. It was interesting to see why girls choose some products over others. They also enjoyed creating lists from existing rooms in their house as well as a list for a dream room, be it a game room or bedroom, for example. Overall I found it very helpful. Thanks!

As part of learning about Savvy Shopper I asked my girls to do a review of the packet! Overall they gave it 3 of 5 stars. While they had fun, most of the girls thought the activities were a little below their level — seemed better for Brownies to them. Looking back, I think they would have had more fun doing the comparison shopping at a real grocery store rather than with the sample included. It did lead well into our conversation about how to use our troop money, how to track it and what we wanted to do next year.

My scouts truly enjoyed diving into the Savvy Shopper packet. They got a thorough understanding of the difference between needs and wants, navigating through their homes to focus on items they use every day. They did comparison shopping, taking into account quantity and $$/oz. All of this led up to a troop discussion of how to best use our troop funds for the year, taking into account community service, meeting supplies, and fun events.
