Cadettes, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts will especially enjoy exploring the fashion, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics that France is famous for.
They may prefer to try some fine French cuisine. While the girls may be disappointed to learn that French toast and French fries are not from France, there are so many other delicious options. Perhaps they can learn about how the cheese France is so well known for is made and serve some of their favorites as snacks. Crepes would be difficult to serve for a crowd but they might be fun to make and eat while the girls put together the details for their Thinking Day. Quiche is a popular French food that can be served hot or cold. Why not serve French pastries such as mille-feuille (we know it as a Napoleon) or eclairs. If the girls like sweets, they might like to try making chocolate truffles using the recipe we shared on this page.
Like many countries, the French enjoy football (we know it as soccer), horse racing, auto racing, sailing and rugby but cycling is very well followed there as well. The Tour de France is known throughout the world. With a course of over 2,000 miles, the race lasts up to three weeks. The route changes every year. Cycling is also a very popular hobby in France.
