Planting a tree in your community is something your girls will remember for years.You can do a memorial tree planting, a commemorative tree planting, park tree planting, community entrance planting or any other idea you girls might have. Plant a tree.
Decide how you will pay for the tree. Maybe you will use troop funds or get a donation. Get some help from families for the tree planting day.
Suggestions for how Junior* and Cadette* Girls can earn the Tree Planting Patch:
Plant a tree for a cause.
Honor someone or a group of people. Invite them to attend the planting. Make up a ceremony to honor the celebration.
Suggestions for how Senior* and Ambassador* Girls can earn the Tree Planting Patch:
Get the community involved.
Set a goal to plant multiple trees in a special spot in your community. Decide how to fund the event. Involve younger troops if possible. Consider having refreshments after the planting ceremony. Maybe a plaque can be placed near the area to mark the spot. Make a commitment to maintain the area.
How will your Girl Scouts earn the tree planting patch? Troop 43564 has participated in their local Parks Appreciation Event for the past 6 years. Their troop has personally planted over 800 trees at Sehmel Park in Gig Harbor.
