Why Choose This JOURNEY*…

Our Peace Adventure Badge in a Bag® is the perfect choice for troops who are working on their Cadette aMaze JOURNEY*. Your girls will learn how to find peace in their life everyday and to spread it through their community with a Take Action project that can really make a difference.

Great picture from Vesna troop 418:  Your journey in a bag for Cadettes* was amazing! Girls had a lot of fun and enjoyed all the crafts. Would absolutely recommend to others. Everything was easy to understand and most all supplies were at your fingertips. The conversations that went on this weekend were very interesting to hear. Girls this age really need some reminding about friendships, bullying, and making the right choices.

I am not a crafty person, so having the crafts pre-selected with a list of materials was very helpful for me. I used a mix of activities from this guide, the girl book, and the leader book for this journey, but I used all the crafts provided in this kit.

Overall we loved the kit and the girls loved the kit. We ordered 14 kits and had 11 girls go on the weekend trip. We had 2 girls lead each session with some leader help. You really need to plan on at least 1 1/2 hours for each session. We did not and had to push through to get all 6 done in the weekend. The TAP suggestions were very helpful for the girls. Overall they loved the crafts. There was not enough paint or pom poms in the kit. We were able to do the small and medium pom critter but not the large. There were not enough pom poms to cut up to cover the peace sign. The girls said after it was done that they wished they had just written messages on the peace sign instead. They liked painting the peace banners but commented the felt should have been white or a lighter color for the paint to show. The lanyards were a little difficult to get started and there were comments about it being difficult because of the shoe laces. We told them they were learning perseverance and it represented the “knoty” issues of friendship. We had no problem with the cyber buddies. We let the girls cut their own shapes. We used the glues suggested in the kit for the different activities. I did notice that many of the links in the booklet for alternate activities did not work when reviewing the booklet before leaving. We all agreed that we would do the kit again and are looking forward to using the Impact kit to do their next Journey.

Our mixed age Cadette Troop did this Journey this weekend. It was fantastic and even our most cynical girls enjoyed it. A few notes. The included art supplies were NOT enough. We ordered 18 kits (one for each girl and one for each leader – 4 of ours girls did not make it) and the amount of Pompoms and paint included were no where near enough. I had expected as much and bought 2 additional bags of pompoms and still no. Between giving each girl 3 (the growing friend), and cutting them up for fluff, no where near enough. We did not have enough of each size to hand out. If our other 4 girls had come we would not have had enough to even hand out. I would recommend to any leader purchasing this – LOTS of Pompoms, LOTS of paint.
We also ran out of time. Many of the steps used up a lot more than an hour or hour and a half due to discussion. When talking about relationships, we just did not want to cut them off. We ended up wishing we had used the entire weekend instead of just one night. As another reviewer said, we had to skip the maze, it was too time consuming and labor intensive. I wish I had preprepped it – precut and painted the sticks – but even then we didnt have time. And the cyber buddies didn’t work. The glue never held. We REALLY wish the kit had included a traceable pattern. We just sent girls home with unfinished projects.

So fellow leaders be advised – Go through the leaderbook carefully. You will need more supplies than are included. Make a list, check it twice and buy extra. Also if you have a large group or talkative folk, give yourself plenty of time.

Well worth the cost. The organization and the step by step guide was well worth it. We will be back for more.

Hi, thanks for your honest review. We’re going to take a look at the amount of paint and pompoms and adjust that. Regarding the time, I’m sure that that it cannot be done in an evening. We suggest a day or a weekend. As recommended, Fabric-Tak glue works very well on felt. Most of the other glues do not. Please reach out to customer service at [email protected] if you would like to finish up the projects. We can send you more pom poms and paint.

I wanted my 6th grade Cadette troop to do the aMaze Journey in one overnight and I was looking for an easy way to incorporate a lot of crafts in. This kit made it very easy. It took some time to organize the materials the way I wanted them, but everything was there. The kit had much more than I had time for, but I plan to use the extra stuff at other meetings. The maze was very time consuming. The girls were engrossed in getting the sticks to stand up and if you are looking for that type of activity; this is it. My daughter suggested that next time the girls should glue down straws which are easier to cut and clue down. I think I’ll try that. Also, we didn’t get to paint them in our timeframe. We were going to use sharpies to cut down on drying time, but the girls didn’t even get that far! I have a 5th grade troop and I will be doing the same Journey again next year. I plan to buy this kit for them too.

So if your looking for a way to make your journey book fun for your girls. This is the kit to do it! The girls loved the maze craft and the scrapbook they got to make and put all the things they did throughout the journey into it. We completed at a weekend camp out and the girls had a blast! I would recommend this to everyone!

I was disappointed in the box. I would have preferred to pay a lower cost for the instructions and the ideas then purchase the supplies myself. As a troop that started as Daisy’s, we have some of these supplies or could have bought better items at a cheaper price elsewhere. I am hoping that the girls will enjoy the activities at our overnight. I do think there were some good ideas in the box.

I set up a backyard camping sleepover, handed this kit over to my troop of 7 and said “have a go at it” and then I sat back and watched while they did the journey almost completely on their own. I can’t say enough about what a good experience it was for them. The girls were truly proud to have done this journey.

Are you doing a kit for the other 2 Cadette Journeys and the Senior and Ambassador Journeys?

I love the “badge in a bag” kits!! It takes away so much of the worry about what to do. Our meetings are 1 1/2 hours long & each step takes us exactly that long (including a snack break). My daughter who is a touch critic of some of the things we do in scouting LOVES these kits as do the rest of the Girl Scouts in our troop.

Only 1 meeting into the Journey, but so far the girls LOVE this! The pre-planned activities made my job much easier and the Journey is FUN!

We got this for our Cadette group. They LOVED IT!!! Our incoming Cadettes have asked me to order the same kit for them as well. CAN’T WAIT FOR THE OTHER CADETTE JOURNEYS TO COME OUT!!! As our Troop strives to complete all 3 journeys and their Bronze/Silver or Gold award before they bridge up. Keep them coming! :) Thank you for these!!

Boxes arrives crushed, and not very good instructions for the activities. Otherwise it looks like it will help with the journey. Glad I had a 20% coupon, seems a bit expensive

Excited to have everything in one place for the entire journey. Disappointed that they were not the same products as the directions stated. Each girl bag was missing the peace mirror so we couldn’t do that activity. Some of the projects were too difficult to do with a group of girls. Overall the girls enjoyed the journey. We improvised on many of the activities to keep them involved.

I have nothing but great things to say about this kit. We have done it with our troop a couple times once over course of few meetings and once as a day event. Since I have a multi level troop. This is the age where you start to loss girls, they loss interest, and HATE book work. This kit makes planning for the GS Journeys so easy. There is little to no planning needed. Just make sure you have the supplies listed on directions and away you go. For many of the parts the girls ran there own meeting with ease, so much easier then here is journey book figure it out. The big things Girls were not bored, lots of hands on activities and thats what the girls need! I would recommend this kit to everyone with a Cadette group. Honestly its a no brainer :)

My troop loved this Journey. They opened up more for discussion and were willing to do the activities because it did not seem like school.

My girls just finished week 6 and are heading into their TAP. They loved the badge in a bag. The “mad libs” style fill ins and the crafts. I think their favorite craft was the Cyber Buddy! Thank you for making Journeys fun!
