Every journey and badge in a bag kit I’ve purchased from Making Friends has been great! My daughters love them. We can’t wait to see what Making Friends does in the future.

The packers and downloads have some great information. But my ten year old junior, said it was boring.

Great! Thank you for letting us know!

We also had trouble with the magnet, we had 12 girls and did not have enough tissue paper. Seems like they will take a long time to dry and we did the Journey in an overnight. Otherwise, lots of engagement and fun!

    :

We had a wonderful time doing this journey. We spent the day working on it. We allotted 8 hours with a lunch break and ended up completing it in 5 hours with 16 fourth and fifth grade girls. The girls really enjoyed the activities. We created stations for the girls to work at their own pace. We had two girls step out for other activities and return to complete. We only purchased one troop kit and supplemented with our own supplies. We ended up using duct tape instead of the scrap book paper for the piece with the girl’s photo on it and on the folder.

The cons, which there weren’t many, we would suggest full size folders versus the mini folder. I would suggest scrapping the mini folder in the kits and buying them in bulk. We would also ditch the magnet. We had a hard time getting them to turn out well. I think a cut out of the shape for each magnet would have worked better. I liked the idea and concept behind it but the girls struggled to get a nice shape and it stuck to the cookie cutter.

The pros, were too many to list but we really enjoyed seeing where each girl listed themselves under each Girl Scout Law item. We have a ton that fell within a few categories and then a sprinkling on certain categories. The bracelets were a hit.

We have our follow up to take action on but otherwise wrapped it up in a day and had a great time doing so.

The best part was not having to worry about tracking down supplies to make this journey happen. The additional items we needed were in our own craft supply stashes.

This was our first Junior journey and we did it as an overnight. My girls loved it and have already requested we do another one! They loved the crafts and it made the journey really enjoyable.

    :

I purchased this as we were finishing up our Power of One Award. Very thankful we did. The girls were getting bored with the book reading. It has made the journey more fun for them while helping me to present it in a way that they understand. Thank you so much

    :

I have been so overwhelmed with trying to make these Journeys manageable and still fun for the girls. The Journey in a Bag helped me so much! The activities were fun while still fulfilling the badge. The girls really enjoyed, making their journals with girl heros. I appreciate the help! I will be looking for the other Journeys when we move on,

I bought this and completed one of the girl bags with my daughter. I found the whole package exceptional. I wanted to have all of the samples to show other leaders in our Service Unit how easy planning a meeting would be if they had this. I thought the completed projects were cute and age appropriate.

    :

All I can say is little to no planning prior to the event. The directions make it so clear to know what we have to get together ourselves, then we just follow directions. I have done many kits from Makingfriends but this one has by far been the best! Girls loved all the crafts, and team activities.

We used the kit to complete our 2nd Journey at the Junior level. It was well thought out and well presented. Had an excellent variety of material and the plans were well written and easy to follow. The girls really enjoyed it and it was a lot easier on me. I will definitely be using them for Cadettes.

I also find it hard to think of some fun ideas to make the journeys less like homework. This was a great item to buy & makes it more fun for the girls to learn about Young Woman who really made & make a difference in the world. I am going to buy more of these for my older troop.

I have not used the kit yet but was impressed with the detailed session instructions and the materials included as well as the ideas. We plan to host a journey weekend and use these kits.

90 minutes flew by and the girls were engaged The only negative for the first session is that the word search was too difficult.

It was what we needed to proceed.

    :

We are very pleased with the Agent of Change Badge in a Bag. The only small complaints that we have are that we were given too many “Past Teen Hero” sheets and not enough “Current Teen Hero” sheets, so I had to photocopy some more of the latter. Also, while the instructions are good, it was hard to follow them because they’re in small type and squashed together. Bullet points would have been easier to follow. But overall, we are happy and will probably purchase another Badge in a Bag in the future.
