This 2″ iron-on embroidered patch is part of our patch program®.

Girl Scout Cookies for Hereos

Cookie time is an opportunity to teach your girls about recognizing people who have helped them throughout the year. This could mean personally, such as a teacher, in the community, such as the police or firefighters, or the country — our military.

Suggestions for how younger girls can earn the Cookies for Heroes Patch:

This can easily be modified for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.

  1. Explain that hero is a person who is brave and does good things for others. People look up to heroes and want to be like them. Ask each girl to think of anyone they know who was a hero to them personally in the past year. Make suggestions such as:
    — a doctor, nurse or other medical professional
    — a teacher or other school employee
    — a family member
    — a neighbor
    — a friend
  2. Ask the girls to take turns and tell the other girls about their hero.
  3. With your troop, discuss giving each hero a box of Girl Scout cookies or making cookies to give them.
  4. Download the printable “You are my hero” card. This will be in your order confirmation when you purchase this patch. Ask each girl to complete it and give it to their hero with a box of cookies.

Suggestions for how all girls can earn the Cookies for Heroes Patch:

  1. Ask the girls to make a list of their community heroes. Some suggestions are:
    — Police
    — Firefighters
    — First Responders
    — Military
    — Medical Personnel
  2. With your troop, decide which group or groups you would like recognize with a cookie gift.
  3. If it’s Girl Scout cookie season, decorate a large box with a sign that says “COOKIES FOR HEROES” to put at your cookie booth. Tell your customers about your heroes and ask them to donate a box. Decide how many boxes your troop will donate. If it’s not cookie season, you can still delivery or send cookies. Do research to find out if homemade cookies are accepted or only box cookies. Make sure to send a note or a card with the cookie donation.
