Palant is a sport that began in Poland that is very similar to baseball. Like much of Europe, football (we call it soccer) is very popular in Poland. Other popular sports there is Speedway (a motorcycle sport), volleyball ice hockey and weight lifting.

Traditional Polish folk costumes, sometimes worn for special occasions, are brightly colored and decorated with embroidery.

Your girls may be familiar with some Polish dishes such as kielbasa and pierogi (Polish dumplings) but they will also want to learn about bigos (hunters stew) and some popular desserts such as paczki (Polish donuts), sernik (cheesecake) and makowiec (poppy-seed cake).
