Girl Scout Rope Tying and Knots Patch

 

Knot tying can be decorative like macrame or friendship bracelets but it can also be a lifesaving skill to develop. Inexpensive jump ropes tied to the back of a chair can be a good option for practicing your knot tying.

Suggestions for how younger girls can earn the Rope Tying and Knots Patch:

  1. Learn how to tie an overhand knot and a half knot.
  2. Demonstrate that you can tie your shoes.
  3. Make something using knots such as a hair bow or fleece tie blanket.

Suggestions for how pre-teens and tweens can earn the Rope Tying and Knots Patch:

  1. Learn how to tie 8 basic knots.
  2. Demonstrate that you can tie a tie.
  3. Make something using knots such as a friendship bracelet or a macrame plant hanger.
