Teal Pumpkins are used to indicate that a house offers non-food treats for those with food allergies or other needs.
Troop 955 Myrtle Beach,SC
We participated this past Halloween at a local Chick Fil A Trunk/Treat event handing out candy along with promoting the Teal Pumpkin program. The teal pumpkin program lets children know that a particular home/location offers peanut free items such as pencils, stickers, etc. We handed out Girl Scout stickers and pencils promoting and recruiting. The girls loved doing this. -

Vegan Patch
Help your scouts learn the difference between vegan and vegetarian.
- Ask a nutritionist to visit with your troop to talk about what a healthy vegan diet includes.
- What are the health benefits of a vegan diet?
- Is a vegan diet beneficial for everyone?
- What vitamins and minerals can be affected by a vegan diet?
- Invite someone who follows a vegan diet to attend a meeting to talk about their experience.
- Do they find it challenging to order in restaurants?
- Do they need to bring their own food to family gatherings if extended family does not also eat vegan?
- Are there any foods that aren’t vegan that would surprise us? ex: are s’mores vegan?
- Help your girls prepare vegan snacks to enjoy together during a troop meeting or take a trip to a vegan restaurant.
November is World Vegan Month.
Give your scouts the Vegan Patch from MakingFriends®.com to show they understand what a vegan diet is and are able to make accommodations for friends or family that are vegan.

Trail Ride Patch
Your scouts have mastered bicycle safety and bike riding. Now it’s time to take it up a notch with a trail ride. Your troop can set a goal for a long ride on a scenic trail and complete shorter, flatter trail rides to prepare. Remind them to hydrate and bring some snacks for energy.
After their adventure, the Trail Ride Patch from MakingFriends®.com makes a great addition to their uniform.
