  • 1440 Red, White and Blue 6mm x 9mm Pony Beads
  • 60 Safety Pins
  • 60 USA Beads
  • 30 Yards of 2mm Satin Cord

Instructions:

halfhitchCut satin cord into 18″ lengths. Fold in half and half hitch to a safety pin by placing the folded end down through the pin and drawing the cord ends down through the folded end loop. Diagram at right shows how a key ring will look with cord half hitched to it.

String the top bead onto both cords and push up to the safety pin. Lace the first row of three beads onto one cord. Lace the other cord through the same beads in reverse order. Pull both cords snugly. Continue with the next row of three beads until you have laced the five rows.

String the bottom bead onto both cords and push up to the last row. Tie off. Trim cords.

If you are using optional SWAP* tags, write your message on the tag and slide onto the pin. Close pin.

    :

Great value for the USA Pride pin prepack however the site says it makes 60 and I only had enough cord for 55. Not a huge deal for our cub pack but in case someone needed 60 you’ll need a little more cord.

When I received the merchandise, I was missing a “U” bead and I was also short on the string. I was only able to make 59 out of the 60 pins.

These are a fun easy project for my Junior Girl Scouts. We are presenting them to Veteran’s at our school program.
