This 2″ iron-on embroidered patch is part of our patch program®.
Our Household Skills patch program® equips Girl Scouts with essential skills and knowledge related to maintaining a household. Through engaging activities, girls will learn practical skills that contribute to their independence, responsibility, and well-being.
Suggestions for how younger girls can earn the Household Skills Patch.
- Download the “What Should You Do” worksheet provided with your order confirmation. Each scenario represents a situation you may find yourself in. How you handle yourself will represent your level of maturity. Circle the letter that best represents an adult behavior. There many be more than one right answer. Discuss why you chose your answer.
- Cleaning and Organization (complete 1)
– Learn what needs to be cleaned in different areas of a household, such as the kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom. Demonstrate cleaning off one room.
– Learn effective organization techniques for maintaining a clutter-free and tidy living space.
– Develop a personalized cleaning schedule or checklist for regular household maintenance. - Basic Cooking and Nutrition (complete 1)
– Prepare a simple, nutritious meal or snack from scratch under adult supervision.
– Learn about the importance of balanced nutrition and how to make healthy food choices.
– Explore cooking techniques, such as chopping, slicing, sautéing, and baking. - Laundry and Clothing Care
– Learn how to sort, wash, dry and fold clothing items properly. - Outdoor Maintenance (complete 1)
– Participate in planting and caring for a garden bed.
– Demonstrate proper usage and care of common outdoor maintenance tools such as rakes, shovels, pruners, and hoses.
– Clean an outdoor surface such as a deck, patio, or walkway.
