Exotic traditions become even more fun when you add a Hong Kong Patch to your exploration of the many festivals celebrated there including Lunar New Year, Lantern Festival and Dragon Boat Festival. Learn about Hong Kong’s use of bamboo in contruction, Cantonese cuisine (such as Dim Sum).
Some difference between Hong Kong and China is that Hong Kong is a mix of Chinese and Western cultures. Having been a British colony for over 150 years, English is widely spoken and many street signs, menus and website are in both English and traditional Chinese characters. English is not commonly spoken in China. Drivers in Hong Kong use the left lane while drivers in China use the right lane.
In Hong Kong football (soccer), rugby union, and cricket are popular while in China the top sports include table tennis, volleyball, and handball.

Troop 15006 of High Point NC chose Hong Kong as their country, performed an umbrella dance and donated items to the host church’s after school program as part of the Take Action part of the WTD* award. The girls earned Hong Kong Thinking Day* patches.
