Road Trip Patch
Sometimes the trip is just as much fun as the destination. Turn a long distance trip into an adventure for your scouts by finding interesting stops along the way. Instead of stopping at rest stops for meals, find local parks to bring a picnic lunch. Visitor centers along your route will have lots of great ideas for stops and excursions. Going a little out of your way can lead to the most amazing experiences for your scouts!

Woodworking Patch (Tools)
Help your troop learn how to make something out of wood. This patch from MakingFriends®.com demonstrates that your troop has learned how to use basic tools like a hammer, nails and sandpaper. Older scouts might be ready to learn how to use saws, drills and more specialized wood working tools. Machine Sewing Patch
Your girls will appreciate learning how to use a sewing machine. While it’s a great skill for anyone to have, learning to sew on a machine can also help with future badge work. The Junior Independence* and Senior Room Makeover* and Science of Style* badges all have activities for which knowing how to use a sewing machine could be a great help. If you don’t have a machine or the skills, check with your local sewing or craft shop to see if they offer a trip. Ask around in your community too. There may be seamstresses or tailors who would love to be a guest at your troop meeting or event to share their skills.
