Secret Sister Patch
Secret sisters can be a year long way to help girls connect or a one time holiday gift exchange.
One way to build sisterhood in the troop is to have girls draw names a the beginning of the year and be a secret sister to that girl. Your girls may have some great ideas about how to put the idea into practice but you can suggest that the girls discreetly try to learn about their secret sister throughout the year. They can practice small acts of kindness towards that girl, choose to sit near them for activities occasionally, complimenting them. Of course if they want to remain a secret sister until the end of the year, they would have to be subtle and treat everyone kindly. At the end of the year everyone can try to guess who their secret sister.
Secret sister gifts can be home made gifts or an inexpensive gift chosen for their secret sister after spending a year getting to know them.
For a one time secret sister gift exchange, themed gifts usually work best. Help your girls pick a theme for their secret sister gift exchange. Books, fun socks, stuffed animals, ornaments, fidget toys and spa gifts make great themes.

Care for Pets Patch
Even the youngest scouts can help care for pets. If your girls don’t have a family pet, ask them to practice caring for pets using favorite a stuffed animal.
Talk about what responsibilities come with pet ownership. Discuss which responsibilities are age appropriate for them.
Are they old enough to feed their pet or fill their water supply?
Is grooming their pet something that is safe for them to do?
Can they help clean up after their pet and keep the pet’s environment clean and safe?
While the girls aren’t old enough to make vet appointments, do they understand that part of caring for a pet is taking care of their medical needs and following the vets recommendations?
One thing girls of all ages can do to help care for pets is to play with them.
All pets need attention and most need play time. Ask the girls to make sure to play with the family pets for at least 5 minutes each day and share their experience at the next meeting.
Was there a reason they couldn’t play with their pet for 5 minutes every day? If they couldn’t, did they encourage another family member to help?

Spaghetti Dinner Patch
There are so many reasons for your girls to prepare a spaghetti dinner together. Some might decide it’s a great way to fulfill a badge requirement. Other troops might want to reach out to a soup kitchen or shelter to ask if they could prepare a spaghetti dinner for those in need. Many troops participate in meal trains for a sister scout family or community member who needs their support for a while. Spaghetti dinners make a great fundraiser too. Of course sometimes the girls just want to enjoy a meal together just for fun. When serving food to the public remember to check your council regarding the food safety guidelines they require. And of course, you’ll want to remember the patch! The Spaghetti Dinner patch from MakingFriends®.com will make a great reminder of your fun or service.
