Remembering the true meaning of Christmas this holiday season

National Hispanic Heritage Month begions on September 15th and continues through October 15th. It celebrates the history, culture and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, Central and South America nad the Caribbean.
September 15th is the anniversary of independene for several countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
Mexico celebrates their independence on September 16th, Chile on September 18th and Belize on September 21st.

A surprise breakfast, also called kidnap breakfast, is a fun tradition and a chance to make for some great memories with your troop or service unit. It involves “sneaking” into one of your troop member’s house and waking them up for breakfast out. This is usually done with someone new but can also be done for your whole troop. Best if done very early in the morning. Everyone including the adults has to go out exactly like they wake.

As winter ends and spring begins, you’ll have a short window to take your troop Maple Sugaring. This patch will help the girls remember this sweet trip.

Take a trip to the local bakery or make the cupcakes yourself! Either way, the girls will love to decorate them for the holiday. Give them frosting, chocolate chips, gumdrops, candy canes and any other holiday candies to spark their creativity.

Nothing is harder for families than spending the holiday without the money needed for gifts and festive food. Your troop and make a difference by choosing an item from an angel tree or sponsoring the whole family with your families helping out. Talk to the local churches or school nurses to find a family in need.
