Step 1: Be an Animal Observer

Take the girls outside to a park, backyard, or schoolyard. Have them sit or walk in complete silence for two minutes with their eyes closed. Afterward, ask them to share every animal sound they observed:

Step 2: Play an animal observation game

Use printable cards featuring common animals (like elephants, sharks, cats, and frogs).

• How to play: Girls take turns picking a card out of a bag and acting out that animal’s behaviors and movements.
• The Twist: To practice real observation skills, challenge the girls to act out the animal without making any human noises or talking—only natural animal sounds and body language allowed!

A wonderful, low-prep way to teach girls how to identify and study local wildlife right in their own backyards.

• How to use it: Provide coloring pages of common backyard birds (like Bluebirds or Robins) alongside real reference photos.
• The Goal: As they color, point out distinct markings—like the bright red chest of a robin—so they learn how real ornithologists tell birds apart.

Animal Mask Dance Party
