image_printPrint

indian_sariSurprisingly easy to make! No sewing needed.

You need:

  • 3 Yards of 60″ Fabric (will make two saris) We used an inexpensive acetate used for linings.
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Tee Shirt (fitted tees are more expensive so buy the regular fit two sizes smaller)
  • Gems
  • Gem Glue
  • Gem Body Art Adhesive
  • Beads
  • Flip Flops
  • Leggings or Stretchy Shorts

Instructions:

sari1 sari2 sari3

sari4 sari5

Cut the neck band off the tee shirt. Cut the bottom off so it ends at your waist. Use gem glue to adhere gems to embellish tee shirt. (image 4 above)

Cut fabric in half the long way. You will have two 30″ x 3 yard pieces. Each will make one sari.

Beginning at one end, tuck the edge of the fabric into the waistband of leggings. Fold a pleat in the fabric and tuck the next section in the waistband. Continue pleating and tucking all around the waist. (images 1 – 3 above)

Throw the remaining fabric over your shoulder from back to front. Accessorize with jewelry. (image 4 above)

Use gem adhesive to adhere gems to face. (image 5 above)
