- Observe outdoor spaces
- Build a safe campfire
- Take care of wildlife
- Practice being kind

Our exclusive “Random Acts of Eco Kindness” activity grid to help girls practice being kind to the Earth during your meetings, at home, and when outside.

Step 1: Think of ways to help the outdoors
Remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle! Here’s a fun Girl Scout song about recycling to help you remember.

Step 2: Observe outdoor spaces
Have the girls find a spot outdoors, lay a 3′ piece of yarn down in a circle on the ground, and look closely inside their circle to find “nature’s houses.”
- Gently lifting a rock or fallen log to check for beetles, pillbugs, or worm tunnels (remind them to carefully flip it back!).
- Examining the underside of leaves for tiny insect eggs or cocoons.
- Looking for spiderwebs between blades of grass or hidden inside tree bark.

Step 3: Build a safe campfire
This free download features a beautifully illustrated story about Smokey Bear paired with a hands-on activity where your troop can craft their own puppets or assemble an educational booklet to learn essential campfire safety rules.
