Our Recruitment Fun Patch is the perfect way to say a big “Thank You!” to the girls and volunteers who help grow your troop and school community.
Whether it’s a Daisy inviting her best friend to a meeting or an adult volunteer hosting a neighborhood info session, everyone can play a part in sharing the joy of scouting. Below are engaging ideas to help girls of all ages and adult volunteers earn this patch!
How Younger Girls Can Earn the Patch
- Bring a Friend! If you are looking to grow your troop, host a special “Bring a Friend” troop meeting. Have your girls invite a classmate or friend to join in on the regular fun, crafts, and games!
How Older Girls Can Earn the Patch
- Service Unit Support: Help coordinate or run a station at a local Service Unit recruitment event.
- Plan and Host: Design and run a themed recruitment meeting for a younger troop or your Service Unit. Here are some great theme ideas older girls can organize:
- Campfire Classics: A sing-along and s’mores night.
- Craft Night: Creative hands-on projects to take home.
- Minute to Win It: Fast-paced, high-energy party games.
- Scavenger Hunt: An outdoor adventure around the meeting space.
- Leave No Trace & Outdoors: An introduction to basic outdoor ethics.
- Flag Etiquette: Teaching younger girls how to respect and handle the flag.
How Adult Volunteers Can Earn the Patch
- Spread the Word: Host a recruitment event or help coordinate community outreach. Here are some excellent ways to get involved:
- School Partnerships: Collaborate with local schools to host recruitment drives or place flyers in school newsletters and bulletin boards.
- Community Outreach: Organize interactive booths at local libraries, parks, community fairs, or festivals.
- Information Sessions: Host parent info meetings or PTO presentations to highlight how scouting builds character and leadership.
- Local Collaborations: Partner with local youth organizations (after-school programs, sports clubs) or local businesses to cross-promote and display recruitment materials.
- Social Media Advocacy: Share success stories, event highlights, and registration links across your personal or local community social media groups.
- Peer-to-Peer Events: Organize a “Bring a Friend” incentive day for the entire troop or service unit.
Tip: Always tailor your recruitment efforts to fit the unique needs and interests of your local community!
