Host a Crowd-Pleasing Service Unit Cookie Rally! (With Ideas from a 30-Year Veteran Leader)

Our latest Service Unit Cookie Rally was planned by Kathy, an incredible Girl Scout leader with 30 years of experience running fabulous programs.

In addition to serving as our Service Unit Cookie Manager, Kathy recently hosted the Cadette Public Speaking badge series. She had a brilliant idea: have the Cadettes complete their badge by planning, running, and speaking at our first-ever Cookie Rally!

The girls absolutely loved the opportunity and ran with it. Below, Kathy shares exactly how they pulled off an amazing event for a huge crowd.

What to do when 100 girls show up!

Planning for a massive group can be intimidating, but breaking the rally into active rotation stations kept the energy high and the girls engaged.

1. The Welcome & The Cookie Chant

After the opening ceremony, we introduced the girls to the star of the show: the cookies! We walked them through the different varieties, teaching them the names, showing them what they looked like, and describing their delicious flavors.

To keep transitions fun and orderly, the Cadettes taught the girls a custom Cookie Chant. The girls proudly chanted it every single time they rotated to a new station!

2. Fun & Easy Cookie Crafts

We kept hands busy with two creative, budget-friendly crafts:

Samoa Ribbon Necklaces: We spray-painted metal washers tan, and the girls used brown markers to draw “chocolate” stripes. They attached them to ribbons using a simple half-hitch knot to make a wearable Samoa cookie!
Cookie Sheet SWAPs: The girls created adorable mini SWAPs that looked like tiny baking sheets loaded with Girl Scout cookies ready for the oven.
Booth Banners: To help decorate their future cookie booths, each girl made a hanging banner. They cut the fronts of actual cookie boxes into a point at the bottom, punched holes at the top, and strung them together with curling ribbon alongside enlarged, colorful paper cutouts of the cookies.

3. “Toss Your Cookies” Game

For some high-energy fun, we set up a custom tossing game on the floor:
We cut classic Girl Scout trefoil shapes out of large cardboard boxes and covered them with a green plastic tablecloth.
We marked different sections of the trefoils with point values.
The girls took turns tossing lightweight discs decorated with pictures of cookies to see how many points they could score!

4. Snack Time: Decorate Your Own Trefoils

All that chanting and crafting works up an appetite! For snack time, every girl got to play food artist by decorating actual Trefoil cookies with frosting and colorful sprinkles.

5. Closing: Booth Etiquette & Safety

We wrapped up the day with a fun, interactive review of the cookie lineup, paired with an essential lesson on booth etiquette and safety. The girls walked away feeling confident, prepared, and incredibly excited for booth sales!

Our first Service Unit Cookie Rally was a massive success, and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing Cadette leaders!
