Food Drives and Nutrition Community Service Ideas
Community service projects for nutrition don’t stop at food drives!
During the holidays, many Girl Scout* troops, school groups and other organizations host food drives. There are many other ways to provide service in your community in regards to nutrition. Establishing a new food pantry, helping to clean or organize at an existing one, starting a mobile food pantry or working at a soup kitchen can also make a meaningful difference.
Hosting a nutrition event can also make an impact in your community. Poor nutrition can lead to poor health, obesity, poor self esteem and can affect student’s ability to learn.
Raising awareness about the seriousness of eating disorders is another area a nutrition based community service project could address. Your group can educate your community about how to recognize the signs that someone needs help with an eating disorder as well as the resources that are available.
You will find community service ideas for a variety of categories such as patriotic, outdoor, animals and more on our page Community Service.
