Thinking of earning the Junior Playing the Past Badge? Why not turn your meeting into a party! It’s great for end of year, beginning of year or anytime your girls just wanna have fun. You might even consider a bring a friend party to introduce new girls to scouting.
Junior Troop 408 of Kings Park on Long Island visited MakingFriends®.com and we had a great time learning about life in 1965 during our Playing the Past Party using their Badge In A Bag®.
We got started by tying on the included tie dye headbands making game paddles for a game of trivia. Instead of “True” or “False” the paddles read “Right On” or “That’s Bunk”. The girls also learned some other slang terms from the 1960s:
A Gas – Having a lot of fun (We had a gas on the camping trip.)
Blast – Had a great time (I had a blast at the dance.)
Bread – Money (I can’t buy that because I don’t have any bread.)
Bummed Out – Depressed (I was bummed out that it rained.)
Decked Out – Dressed up (We got decked out for the party.)
Dibs – Claimed (I got dibs on the front seat.)
Dig – Relate to (Can you dig that song?)
Fab – Fantastic (That is one fab car.)
Far-out – Awesome (Those fireworks were far-out.)
Groovy – Nice (It was a groovy sunset.)
Hairy – Out of control (That was one hairy car crash.)
Hip – Very cool (Do you like my hip sunglasses?)
Lay It On Me – Tell me (If you have something to say just lay it on me.)
Moo Juice – Milk (I’d like a glass of chocolate moo juice.)
Outta Sight – Awesome (That concert was outta sight.)
The Pits – The worst (That town in the pits.)
Split – Leave the area (This party is boring. Let’s split.)
Threads – Clothes (Let’s go shopping and get some new threads.)
