daisy_zinniWhen searching for activities and things to do for each petal, I find that it is important to have a lot of activities because girls sometime complete things quicker than you think. Over the last 10 years, I have had multiple Daisy groups; this week I want to share what I have done with my girls to earn the spring green petal: “Considerate and Caring“.

2A great place to start is to purchase the Petal Pack Complete from Makingfriends It is a complete set of projects to earn your Daisy Petals, 11 projects in all. They are each individually packaged and ready for your daisy meetings, no leader prep is needed. Order one package for each girl.

At the beginning of the meeting, ask your girls what they think being Considerate and caring means? Have girls give examples of times they have been considerate an caring to others in their lives.

This is part of MakingFriends.com Petal Pack Complete and is also available separately. Girls peel and stick foamie glitter daisies to 4 preprinted card that say “A DAISY SMILE FOR YOU”. Beside this kit. We also drew a smile face on the flowers with a marker. Project will take about 20 minutes to complete.

Additional Games and Activities

Be Considerate While Coloring

Use crayons, color pencils, markers, and if it makes sense paint – have them each use a certain thing for 5 minutes or go less depending on how fast they color – and then trade – see what type of pictures they end up with. Get some great free coloring pages here.

Listening Is Important Part Of Being A Good Friend

DSC_0346Partner girls up and give each pair a small token or object. Instruct one girl in each
pair to put on a bandanna with the help of her partner or adult. This girl will be the
listener. The other girl will be the talker.

Once the listeners have closed their eyes or been blindfolded, the talkers should place their small tokens somewhere in the room. They shouldn’t be hidden in tricky spots, but should be a bit out of the way. Tell the talkers that they should remember where they placed their tokens. Once the tokens have been placed, it is the talker’s job to lead her partner to the hidden token by giving verbal instructions. Once the tokens have been found, have girls switch roles and repeat.

After the activity is complete, discuss the role that listening played in this activity.

  • Why was listening so important?
  • Was it hard to be an active listener?
  • What might make it easier to be an even better listener?
  • When you’re having a real conversation with someone, what are some things you
can do to show you’re really listening and care about what he or she is saying?
