You need:

  • High Heeled Shoe Beads
  • Coiless Pins
  • Letter Beads or substitute faceted beads
  • Rhinestones
  • Glue Dots or Mini Low Temp Glue Gun
  • Custom Swap Tags (not shown)

Instructions:

Using a glue dot adhere the rhinestone to the top of the shoe as shown above. Open the pin and slide on five letter or five crystal faceted beads and shoe bead. Add a swap tag and slide on the tag. Close pin.

You need:

Instructions:

Cut a 12″ piece of satin cord for each maraca. Tie it around the handle with a double knot. String three pony beads on to each cord end a tie a knot to hold in place. Wrap a piece of vinyl tape around each handle to decorate and hold the cord in place.

Kenya for Thinking Day

Officially named Republic of Kenya, Kenya became independent from United Kingdom in 1963. Your scouts may be aware of the savanna grasslands, but Kenya is also home to mountains and hills where Kenyans can mountain climb, camp, explore caves and view the wildlife. Mount Kenya is the second highest mountain in Africa and is just one of the incredible mountains your scouts will want to learn about and share pictures of if their display. They will want to learn about the conservation efforts by Kenyans to restore the degrading coral reefs in the Indian Ocean on the coast of Kenya. Girl Scout Thinking Day for Dominican Republic

These girls made skirts from plastic table cloths to represent the Dominican Republic. Girls representing Costa Rica can use a brightly colored table cloth to create a skirt!

Families in Costa Rica are very close. Girls might be surprised to learn that siblings there use each others clothing and personal items, often without asking permission first. Meals are a time for family to be together and most include rice and beans. A variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as chicken and fish are part of their diet. Girls might want to try to make arroz con leche (rice with milk, cinnamon stick and usually sugar).

Fun Fact: Bullfighting is different in Costa Rica. It is against the law to stab or hurt the bull in any way.
