Recycle.
Review with your girls where and how they recycle. Ask them about home, school and meetings. Can any of those places be improved to make recycling easier? If there is no place for them to dispose of a recyclable item, what do they do? Ask the girls to pledge to always recycle bottles and cans.

Help your community recycle.
Think of a way you can improve your community through recycling. Does your state have a bottle and can deposit? Seniors or people without transportation may have difficulty redeeming the deposit. You could offer to do it for them and bring them the money. Businesses may not have a plan to redeem the deposit. Your troop could suggest that they redeem the deposit and put some of it toward a community project.

Do a community recycling audit.
Take a look at the places in your community where people gather such as eateries, parks and community centers. Are there bins for recycling? Are they emptied often enough? Where do the recyclables go? When you find places that need improvement, make a plan to contact the appropriate people and make suggestions for the improvement. You might consider volunteering to help.
