Responsible Pet Ownership
– Explore what it takes to be a responsible pet owner.
– Create a checklist for responsible pet ownership, including food, shelter, exercise, and regular vet care.
Pet Care Education
-Visit a local animal shelter or rescue organization and volunteer your time to help with tasks like cleaning, feeding, or walking the animals (if allowed).
– Find out what the shelter needs. Create and distribute homemade pet toys or blankets to the shelter’s animals. Here is an idea to make cat scratchers from GS cookie boxes.

Watch this video to learn about kitten fostering from someone who works for the ASPCA.
Pet Advocacy
Participate in a project to advocate for pets in your community. This could include creating informative posters, participation in a pet adoption event, collecting needed shelter supplies from your community members.
Advocacy Continuation (Optional)
– Continue advocating for pets by volunteering, fundraising, or educating others even after earning your patch.

Understanding Animal Welfare
– Research and discuss the importance of animal welfare.
– Learn about local animal shelters, rescue organizations, and their missions.
