Suggestions for how younger girls can earn the Milkshake Patch:
- Print the worksheets from your order confirmation. Cut out the manipulatives and ask your girls to compare them to the reference pages. Ask them to show different ways to make the same amount such as “How many quarts in a half gallon” “How many pints in a gallon”.
- Fill in how many milkshakes you will be making on the worksheet. Using the manipulatives, complete the worksheet to find out how much milk you will need and how much ice cream you will need.
- With your troop, decide what type of milkshake you will be making and make a list of the ingredients for a shopping trip. Optional: Make a budget using the information on the reference pages.
- Make milkshakes. Ask the girls what they think of the recipe? Is it thick enough? Too thick? How would you adjust for next time? What about flavor? Would they change it up? How?
- Now that they are milkshake “experts” ask the girls to design their own milkshakes using the worksheet provided.
