Looking for a different type of community service activity for your troop? Your girls can make capes for kids in shelters or hospitals to help empower them during life changing circumstances.
Suggestions for how younger girls can earn the Capes for Kids patch:
- Decide where you want to send a cape, some options are:
- Make a no sew cape.
- Donate it.
Suggestions for how pre-teens and tweens can earn the Capes for Kids patch:
- Discuss how receiving a superhero cape could benefit a child during a difficult transition.
- Decide where you want to send a cape, some options are:
- Make at least one cape. They can be sewn or no-sew. Some ideas are here.
- Donate your capes.
Suggestions for how teens can earn the Capes for Kids patch:
- Find out about kids in your area living in transitional situations. They may be in foster care, in a hospital, or in a shelter.
- Set a goal for the number of capes you want to donate.
- Make others in your community aware of the situation and ask for their participation.
