Over 90% of female NASA astronauts were Girl Scouts, highlighting a massive, long-term connection between the organization and space exploration. Notable alumni include Eileen Collins, Kathryn Sullivan, Sally Ride, and Mae Jemison.

Here are some suggestions for earning this patch. Do at least 4 of the requirements or make up your own.

1. Watch this video to learn about the Artemis launch.

2. Build a simple straw rocket and test it. Record how high and far it goes.

3. Create a model of the Moon’s surface. Use papier-mâché or other craft materials to represent craters and maria (the dark, flat areas).

4. Create an art piece inspired by space! This could be a painting, drawing, or digital artwork representing your vision of space travel or the Moon, inspired by the Artemis program.

5. Write a letter to future explorers who will follow in the footsteps of the Artemis astronauts. Include your thoughts, hopes, and questions about space exploration and the future of humanity in space.

6. Visit a local planetarium or space museum to explore exhibits related to the Moon or invite a guest speaker.

7. At the end of the program, each girl should reflect on what she learned and how she can apply those lessons to her personal life and future aspirations. This could be done through journaling or a group discussion.

The Artemis and the Future of Space Exploration patch program is not just about understanding space. It’s about inspiring the next generation of female leaders in STEM fields. Together, let’s dream big and reach for the stars!

It’s time to teach them about adulting! Make sure your troop knows the right way to clean a bathroom and an outhouse. It’s important it is to have a clean bathroom. Germs and viruses can collect on services and make others sick.

And our Bathroom Duty Fun Patch Program® will make it all a little more fun!

Here are some suggestions for earning our bathroom duty fun patch:

Spray paint a dollar store toilet brush metallic gold. Ask the girls to work out the cleaning schedule and who will be on their clean team or their cleaning buddy. To be “honest and fair,” everyone should take a turn.

Introduce them to the golden toilet brush. This can be used like a trophy that gets passed on to each team as they complete their duties.

Consider other fun ideas for the golden toilet brush:

• Make two and have a relay race to encourage teamwork.
• Use the golden brush to dub the next crew “Latrine Queens.”
• Hold a mock ceremony and “pass the torch” to the next crew.
• Use it as an award that goes to the “cleanest camper” when your adventure is over.
• Ask your group for their ideas!
