When you press flowers and leaves, they become thinner and light can shine through them. In this Glowing Leaves project, you simply decoupage pressed flowers and leaves to a votive cup and cover with tissue paper.

Trivia

 In the 16th century, Japanese artists began the practice of Oshibana, in which they would create large pictures using pressed flowers as their medium. As trade with Japan increased in the mid-1800s, citizens of the western countries became fascinated with the use of pressed flowers as an art form. Supplies

• Pressed Leaves or Flowers
• Votive Cup or Flameless Candle in Glass
• Tissue Paper
• Decoupage Solution
• Foam Brushes
• Instructions:
• Press flowers and leaves traditionally or with the Microwave Flower Press.

Instructions

1. Tear off the straight edges from a sheet of tissue paper, then tear the paper into small pieces.
2. Brush the outside of the votive cup with decoupage solution.
3. Arrange pressed flowers and leaves all around the glass.
4. Brush on more glue and lay the pieces of paper on the glass, overlapping the edges. Keep adding paper and glue until the entire glass is covered.
