\"Girl<\/a>In many areas of the United States, cookie season will be beginning in the coming months. My Girl Scout troop has had a few cookie rallies. I’ll share a few of the ideas. Please add your own experiences at the end of this blog.<\/p>\n

We often use the ideas that the cookie company provides and\u00a0add additional activities of our own. We turn the event\u00a0into a memorable Girl Scout cookie party.<\/p>\n

Each girl\u00a0gets a folder with word puzzles, cookie facts, a cookie recipe for the first cookie, games and all the rest of the handout papers provided by the cookie company. The girls work on the materials in the\u00a0folders during down time or to\u00a0take them home.\u00a0\u00a0Make sure to check out the cookie company in your area. They probably\u00a0have many\u00a0activities you can use.<\/p>\n

Original Cookie Recipe
\n<\/strong>This is the first published recipe for cookies from Girl Scout. It was printed in July, 1922.<\/p>\n

1 cup butter or substitute
\n1 cup sugar
\n2 tablespoons of milk
\n2 eggs
\n1 teaspoon of vanilla
\n2 cups of flour
\n2 teaspoons of baking powder
\nCream butter and sugar together, add well beaten eggs, then milk,\u00a0flavoring, flour and baking\u00a0powder. Roll thin and bake in quick oven. Sprinkle sugar on top.<\/p>\n

The Senior and Ambassador girls\u00a0earn leadership hours by running the activities at our cookie event. We borrow cookie costumes from\u00a0our\u00a0local Girl Scout council\u00a0for the\u00a0older girls to wear.<\/p>\n

Cookie Games and Activities<\/h2>\n

Card Making<\/strong>
\nBefore the girls arrive,\u00a0set up\u00a0a table with markers, ink pads, stamps and cardstock paper. During the upcoming sale, girls will be collecting cookie donations for soldiers.\u00a0Instruct the girls to\u00a0make Thank You cards for the soldiers\u00a0to send with the donated cookies.<\/p>\n

How many cookies in the Jar
\n<\/strong>Set a piece of paper next to a jar of cookies. Everyone can put their name on the paper with their guess of how many cookies are in the cookie jar.\u00a0Winner will\u00a0receive the jar with cookies.<\/p>\n

Cookie Walk
\n<\/strong>Tape pictures of the cookies, the year\u2019s theme logo and a few \u201cfree spaces\u201d to the floor in a circle. Have each girl stand on a space and turn on some music. Girls walk around the circle as the music plays. When the music stops, each girl gets to taste the cookie that is under her feet. If the girl stopped on the theme logo or a free space, she gets to taste the cookie of her choice.<\/p>\n

Cookie Relay
\n<\/strong>\"Cookie<\/a>SETUP: Use some type of cookie (we used ginger snap\u00a0cookies) and then split girls into two teams of equal amounts. Place a table in middle of room and buckets at the other end of room, one for each team. You will need an oven mitt, spatula, and cookie sheet for each team.<\/p>\n

GAME PLAY: Each girl\u00a0races down to the\u00a0table, puts\u00a0six cookies on the\u00a0cookie sheet and then crawls under table.\u00a0She then\u00a0turns around, grabs an oven pad, the cookie sheet with the cookies and a spatula.\u00a0 Holding the oven mitt, cookie sheet, and spatula, she\u00a0races to\u00a0a bucket set up at the other end of room and emptys the\u00a0cookie sheet using the\u00a0spatula.\u00a0\u00a0Then she takes everything back to the table and crawsl back under table, runs back to the team and the next in line does the same thing. This continues until the whole team has had a turn.<\/p>\n

\nWhen we\u2019re crossing any street
\nAnd obey every signal

\nWe don\u2019t carry lots of money

\nWe don\u2019t go into people\u2019s houses

\"Girl<\/a>Save Teddy
\n<\/strong>One of the best games to play at a cookie rally is Save Teddy. First we put cool whip in bowls for each girl and put ten teddy grahams in it.\u00a0 The goal is to save all the teddys. The girls have to put their hands behind their back and dive in face first\u00a0to pull out all the bears with their teeth. \u00a0We have a first, second and third place winner.<\/p>\n

Girl Scout Troop Photos
\n<\/strong>At one of our cookie rallies, we set up an area for all the troops to get their photos taken with cookie boxes and the cookie characters.\u00a0 Each troop received a\u00a0CD with all the photos.<\/p>\n

\"Cookie<\/a>Since\u00a0a favorite Girl Scout tradition is SWAPping, we ask\u00a0each troop to bring 10 SWAPS for each girl.\u00a0During the event, each girl\u00a0makes a Cookie SWAP<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
