As a Brownie Girl Scout work with your girls to help make them aware of them by earning the Senses Try it patch. You can earn this patch easily at one Brownie meeting try some of these activities with your girls.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Look Around<\/h2>\n<h4>Jumping Kim&#8217;s Game<\/h4>\n<p>Gather together about 10 small items (a penny, a button, a paperclip&#8230;). Keep them in a small box &#8211; a metal Band-Aid box works well. The game then is handy for any occasion or moment when a little activity, but not too much, is needed. Girls and adults stand in a circle. Items from the box are spread on the floor in the center of the circle. The &#8220;it&#8221; person calls out &#8220;Jump!&#8221; and everyone jumps and turns to face outside the circle. &#8220;It&#8221; removes one item and then calls out &#8220;Jump!&#8221; again. Players jump and face into the circle. The first to spot the removed object raises her hand and if correct becomes the next &#8220;it&#8221; person.Two good gamesmanship ideas can make this a very good game. Since some people are better than others at spotting the item removed they will win more than once. When this person has won, maybe a third time, the leader can say &#8220;Janie, Susie hasn&#8217;t had a chance to be &#8220;it&#8221;, would you let her take the turn this time?&#8221;<br \/>\nAnd, when the game needs to wind down the leader can say &#8220;Two more times and we&#8217;ll do something else&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1868\" src=\"https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1-300x300.png\" alt=\"1\" width=\"146\" height=\"146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1-50x50.png 50w, https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1-60x60.png 60w, https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 146px) 100vw, 146px\" \/>Different ways to see<\/h4>\n<p>Gather some different optical illusions for the girls to look at see if they can find the two different things in image. \u00a0You can google Optical Illusions and find some really good ones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KinMGqpzT.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1869\" src=\"https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KinMGqpzT.bmp\" alt=\"KinMGqpzT\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Listen to the World<\/h2>\n<p>Learn the Girl Scout Promise in Sign Language \u2013 Share with troop<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LyHhNjOtYDg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Telephone<\/h2>\n<p>Have one person whisper a message to the person next to them. Keep passing the message along, with each person whispering what they heard to the next person. The last person says the message aloud. Is the message the same as it was at the beginning?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cI went on a hike and saw a blue jay, a squirrel, two bears, and a moose!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I dropped my new cellphone in the toilet&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;My puppy tracked mud all over the kitchen floor.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I tried bleaching my hair and it turned orange.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe tiny turkey named tina just ate ten pieces of tin candy<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBarbara\u2019s aunt shared her secret sweet potato pie recipe with me.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cGoofy grinning gophers gobbled gigantic grapes while juggling.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Put your nose to work<\/h2>\n<h4>Follow a friend using only your nose!<\/h4>\n<p>Use a cinnamon stick or lemon slice, blindfold girl and hold item close to her nose and see if she can follow it a short distance using her sense of smell. Then switch girls let each one try<\/p>\n<h4>Play a smelly game with girls.<\/h4>\n<p>Use five containers with lids and mark each with a number on them \u2013 and put:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Peanut butter<\/li>\n<li>Ranch dressing<\/li>\n<li>Orange<\/li>\n<li>Coffee<\/li>\n<li>Ketchup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now rearrange the containers and try to identify the item that Is in each one just by smell. Who can guess the most smells correctly?<br \/>\n.<\/p>\n<h2>Take a taste test<\/h2>\n<p>Explore how sight influences taste. Dye one food a different color than it was originally. Take milk dye it blue. Taste the milk with its normal color and with its dyed color ask whether it tastes different to you and if you like it better if the food is normal color.<\/p>\n<h2>Touch and Feel<\/h2>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/DSC_0345.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1871\" src=\"https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/DSC_0345-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0345\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/DSC_0345-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/DSC_0345-1024x685.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/makingfriends.com\/girl-scout-leader\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/DSC_0345-628x420.jpg 628w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Feeling different Textures<\/h4>\n<p>Find things that have different textures and create a \u201cfeel wheel\u201d-cut a big circle out of poster board and divide into eight pie slices in each slice glue something that has a different texture like smooth, rough, sticky, bumpy, hard, squishy, or hairy. Then have girls take there wheel to another person in troop have them close there eyes and guess what each item is.<\/p>\n<h4>Try Braille<\/h4>\n<p>When someone is missing their sense of sight, they might read with their sense of touch by feeling a set of raised dots. These dots are part of a special system called braille. Use the alphabet to figure out how to write your name in braille. And then write it with dots of glue when it dries you can feel your name in braille.
