There are many opportunities for October Girl Scout meetings. From parties to educational badges and everything else in between, MakingFriends has plenty of fun ideas to pique your girls’ interests. Our favorite idea is this Making Games Brownie badge download— Halloween Edition. With just a little big of tweaking it can also work for the daisy Game Designer Badge and it’s so much fun even your older girls will have a blast.
Halloween is actually a 2,000-year-old celebration of the Celtic New Year (called Samhain) and the end of summer when bonfires were lit and revelers would wear costumes to ward off evil spirits.
Celebrate Juliette Low’s Birthday
Of course, we all know Juliette Low’s Birthday is October 31st but there are many other fun facts to pass on to your Girl Scout troop. Take a look at our Juliette Low Patch Program. It’s perfect for mixed level troops and you can never go wrong with a birthday celebration. If your girls haven’t completed the Girl Scout Ways badges, we have fun downloads:
We also have a great friendship swap kits if you’re participating in a Juliette Low event. Take a look!

October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog month. While you can’t expect your girls to each adopt a dog during the month, you can certainly organize a trip to an animal shelter or even a supply drive.
The MakingFriends Youth Squad program offers your girls a way to earn patches by themselves or in mixed level groups. Take a look at our requirements for a shelter drive.
