Find out what Cookies Cost
Making Change
COOKIES ARE $4.00 this year in my area change based on what it cost near you
- Put girls in pairs, Give each pair a pile of money (in play money) quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies, and dollar bills. The idea of the game is for the girls to work together to make up the cost of the number of boxes of cookies you call out. When you call out “One Box”, or “Three”. Once they have the total they need take to leader to see if right. Have girls hold hands and skip around room
- For added fun we earned this leaf in the fall, so we took pumpkins and put $4.00 in change into each pumpkin. The girls had to work together to find all the change that would add up to the cost of one box of cookies. They had a blast getting sticky and messy, but also they worked together counting the change and learning more about counting money.
Learn about different kinds of cookies
- Do you know your cookies?
Ask the girls if they know what type of Girl Scout Cookies we sell (Samoas, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Do-Si-dos, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles, Thank You Berry Munch, Dulce de Leche) - Finding your Cookie Friends
Take a picture of each cookie and tape on girls forehead so she can’t see what type of cookie she is, make sure there is at least 2 of each cookie out there, girls have to figure out what type of cookie they are and then get into groups with girls with same type of cookie as them. (If girls have fun with it go ahead and do another round of game)
Setting a Sales Goal
How many boxes of cookies does each girl want to sell this year, personally? Ask the girls to each share what their personal Girl Scout Cookie goals are. It is funny, the youngest girls are always very motivated, I had one girl say she was going to sell 5000 boxes herself.
Design a goal poster to help keep track of hitting our goal as a troop.
We shared with the girls how many we sold last year, and let them decide what the overall goal should be this year. I printed off a number of pictures, goal charts, and cookie cartoons for the girls to color, cut out, and put together into a goal poster to be used at our cookie booths. I split the girls into two groups so we could create two different posters to use at the cookie drive. Below are the images just click the image and you can print them yourself.

A great addition to help earning the 4 leaves for Daisy Girl Scouts, is the Daisy Leaves Packette where you will get the play money you need for some of the activities I mention above. As well as a great goal pin girls can wear with their personal cookie sale goals. It also comes with a piggy bank and zipper holder for the money.
