Brownie Troop 70135 used the Brownie Friends patterns from Makingfriends to create a summer project that was a great hit with the girls.  Each girl received the printed pages for dolls, outfits and hair, as well as clear contact paper to protect them and card stock to build them on.

Our unique Flat Savannah’s saw a lot this summer. Our Savannah’s and their Brownie friends did everything from visit grandparents and meet new pets – to visit the American Girl Doll Movie Premiere in New York City.  One doll and her scout even got to meet some real live TV stars!  As our troop grew over the summer, even our newest members got in on the fun… one girl even took her Savannah with her to purchase her Brownie Uniform.

The girls [and I must say moms too] had a blast taking photos with their dolls all summer long.  As an extra component, for those who wanted to go the ‘extra mile’ Journal Sheets were also handed out with the assignment so that girls could practice their writing skills over the summer.  I know I am really looking forward to reading the many chapters of ‘The Journey’s of Flat Savannah’ at our first meeting.

twinsEach girl who participated by sending even just one photo will be receiving a Flat Savannah Patch.  This is a timeless project that we will definitely be repeating- thinking along the lines of ‘Flat Savannah Serves’- where the girls get to chronicle their good deeds [no matter how big or small] and troop service activities.

Many thanks for posting such easy to use and print templates that made this project so easy to put together.

I loved this idea and our troop made their own flat Savannah at our last meeting. I wanted to be proactive and purchase the patches for the girls so we have them when they are done with their adventures but cannot find the patches to purchase them on the girl scout website. Where did you purchase the patch? Could you email me and let me know.

    thanks
