My brownie girls will be doing the world of girls journey starting in November….. anyone with any ideas they’d like to share? How did your girls like it and what are some things you did?

Answers From Other Girl Scout Leaders Compiled from our Facebook Page

“We are doing this one this year. We let each girl pick a country. Each month we focus on that country and the girl(or girls if more than one) with their parents go online and find out things about the girl guides in that country. We play a game, have a snack from that country and then discuss things the girl guides there did to help their community/the world and what we can do here. We are tying in our service projects to these. Not exactly following the guide but the girls are having a great time this way.” Nikki
” We focused more on the story aspect of the journey and the girls all brought their favorite book to talk about. We role played situations with their characters and mashed up one character with a different plot to help identify the clues in the stories. For our take action project we’re going to do a used book drive at our local library and give them to the children’s hospital or something like that. We did passports and countries a few years ago with one of the daisy journeys so thought this would be less repetition.” Heidi
“We do a different country each meeting as a theme, sometimes games sometimes songs, add a story, and craft to represent but we always try and do a foods. My troop is mixed so this goes with Juniors Agent of Change- Because we do different Powerful women stories. I also got the daisies into because they are doing Princess Petals where a disney princess represents each petal, so I coordinate the country with the princess region (sometimes a stretch). Everyone loves trying the different snacks.” Rebecca
” We did passports from recycled GS cookie boxes with flag stickers. We read stories about mighty girls changing the world, we ate foods from different countries and music dance and martial arts demo too!” Jennifer
“the girls enjoyed the activities and games in the leaders guide – we took a trip to the library, and those who did not already have library cards received theirs. they selected a book about a woman who makes or made her world a better place. For their tap – they hosted a community book swap where you brought books to donate, and could choose one book to take home. We also had a make a homemade bookmark station where they also made one to donate and one to keep.” Antanina
”  I cut out poster board the shape of a badge (triangle) and had them draw their story! Then we hung them up in our meeting area like a banner.” Stephanie
”  Our Journey (scheduled for Feb 2014) will be a sleepover journey WS. It will start with my Cadette doing some ‘getting to know you’ games which will help them to earn their ‘Making Friends’ try it and help her to earn her PA bar. They get a passport & mini suitcase. As we explore different countries we are sampling new foods, playing new games, collecting memorabilia & hearing stories. They are responsible for plotting our trip onto a large map, recording the ‘clues’ they hear in the stories into their passport. We’ll end the night watching a movie and the next day we’ll begin the Take Action portion. We are having them bring books to donate and they will be decorating book marks. Additionally, they can pledge to read 5,000 minutes in 1 month (as a group) to earn their World Thinking Day Patch” Sunnie
” We played the Greek Statue game at our meeting last week and our girls had a BLAST! Here is a link to the instructions ” Karen
