Play Dough Ornaments
"Roll out playdough and make shapes with Christmas cookie cutters. Make a hole with a straw and let dry. Brush with decoupage solution. Let dry and add a ribbon."

Soda Bottle Poinsettias
"Cut off the bottom of a 20 oz. soda bottle which is shaped like a flower. Spread the inside with white glue and press yellow tissue into it. Cut red fun foam into the shape of a poinsettia and glue the soda bottom in the center (plastic side out)."

Candy Canes
"Alternate red and white tri-beads on a 6" chenille stem. Bend into the shape of a candy cane."

Puzzle Pieces Rudolf Ornaments
"Paint puzzle pieces brown. Place three pieces together to make an inverted triangle -Rudolph's 'face'. (Puzzle pieces should be extended to look like 'antlers'.) Add wiggle eyes and a red pom pom nose. Glue a ribbon to back for hanging."

"Paint large woodsie hearts brown. Turn upside down, glue on red pom pom nose, wiggle eyes and zig zagged brown chenille stem for antlers. Add a ribbon loop on the back for hanging."

"Glue three Popsicle sticks together to make a snowflake. Decorate with paint, glitter etc."

"Cut out the center of a coffee lid so you are left with a donut shape. Wrap green yarn around the shape to make a wreath. Decorate with mini, red pom-poms and a red bow."

Ice Cream Con Ornaments
"Glue satin Christmas bulbs to ice cream cones. Use glitter glue to write on them. The hanger is already on the bulb."

Photo Frame Ornament
"Cut a rectangle out of stiff card and cut another with a hole inside to create the frame. Use pasta to cover the frame and spray with gold or silver paint. Let dry. Glue the photo in place and back with the other rectangle. Glue on a cord for hanging."

Santa Tree Toppers
"Wrap red construction paper an empty toilet paper roll. Make a cone in red construction paper for a hat. Glue on top. Use cotton balls for the beard and hair around face and bottom of hat and tip of hat. Use black construction paper for eyes and nose, and for a belt around the bottom of the roll."

Recycled Paper Ornaments
"Soak pages from an old phone book in a bucket of water over night. Squeeze out excess water and push the wet paper into large Christmas cookie cutters. Pop out and make a hole at the top with a skewer. Let dry -- this can take a few days. Paint, and decorate and hang up with a ribbon."

Salt Dough Snowman
"Roll salt dough into 1" balls. Press together. Add the top of an acorn for a hat, small sticks for arms, orange toothpick for nose, beads for eyes, mouth, and buttons. Air dry for one or two days. Make a small fabric scarf. Glue on a hanger."

Crochet Thread Ornaments
"Wrap crochet thread around small balloons, stiffen with fabric stiffener. Let dry and pop balloon. Cut out a front portion and add some cotton batting to the bottom. Glue a little Santa, reindeer or snowman on top of the batting. Weave colored ribbon through the top for hanging. Add some glitter glue around the opening."

Glass Bulb Ornaments
"Spread a layer of white glue on a small clear glass bulb. Roll it in a mixture of tiny beads, sequins, tinsel shards, etc. Tie a ribbon and bow around the top of the bulb for hanging."

"Make a paper fan. Coated with glitter spray. As it hardens punch a hole at the top center. Add a ribbon and decorate."

"Cut felt into a shapes and glue on beads or draw on them with fabric paint. Sew a ribbon to the top to hang it from."

"Cut out little characters or scenes from old Christmas cards. Decorate with glitter. Punch a hole in the top to hang."

"Make some salt dough, roll and cut into shapes with star shaped cookie cutter. Bake as directed, cool, and paint. glue a picture of the kids in the center"

"Use tube icing to 'glue' a small candy or cake decor on an unwrapped safety sucker. Turn upside-down and hang from tree by the handle."

Box Ornaments
"Paint small boxes with lids in a holiday design. Cut a small slit in the lid and feed both ends of a ribbon through the lid. Pull the ribbon around the outside of the box bottom and glue it to the bottom. When the lid is closed there was a ribbon loop three to four inches long above the lid to hang the ornament. The lid could slide up the loop to open to find a small surprise inside."

Glass Ornaments with Photos
"Pour glitter, stars, confetti, snow... whatever... about 1/4" in bottom of a glass ball ornament. Cut a photo of child the same as the diameter as the ornament. Write the name and year on back. Glue a Popsicle stick to the back. Let dry. Curl picture just enough to insert into ball. Cut stick flush with neck of ball."

Handprint Rudolf Ornament
"Cut your child's hand print out of brown card stock, turn upside down, glue a red pom pom nose on the end of the thumb, brown chenille stem antlers behind the thumb, and a wiggle eye. Glue ribbon loop on back for hanging."

Aluminum Tray Ornaments
"Cut shapes of bells, ball ornaments, presents, etc. out of disposable aluminum trays. Use a dull pencil or an inkwells pen to make designs by drawing firmly on to the aluminum. Color with permanent markers or tempera paint using an almost dry brush. Make a hole with a pushpin to hang."

"Decorate a small box (3x4 inches or so) and fill with candy or X-mas cookies. Glue 2 candy canes on bottom for sleigh runners."

"Make origami ornaments out of shiny Christmas wrapping paper. Add a hanger."

Paper Bag Ornaments
"Cut two long triangle outs of a paper bag with decorative scissors. Paint green leaving a 1/4" on the edge. Use a black pen to make dashed 'stitch' lines around the painted area. Decorate like a Christmas tree with sequins and small pieces of Christmas cloth. Glue the second triangle to the back all around the edges leaving an opening. Let dry. Stuff with cotton balls. Seal the opening. Add a wire hanger with a cloth bow."

Terra Cotta Bell Ornaments
"Paint small terra cotta pots red, green or silver. Add some pretty mini rick rack in a coordinating color. Run some more of the rick rack through the hole in the bottom and tie a pony bead just inside the pot to make a clapper/hanger for your bell."

"Cut Christmas fabric into squares. Glue to cardboard. Decorate with ribbon, bows, glitter, and buttons. Curl wire around a pencil. Add a jingle bell an fashion into a hanger."

"Make an upside down triangle with three craft sticks overlapping the top by at least 1/2" to make the antlers. Glue on a little sprig of greenery at the top, two wiggle eyes on the cross at the top and a small red pom pom at the bottom point for the nose. Glue a piece of yarn at the top to hang."

Gingerbread Men Ornaments
"Trace around a gingerbread cookie cutter on poster board. Cut out, paint or color with marker. Use glitter glue to draw on eyes, buttons, collar, etc or use beads, buttons, rick rack or fabric. Glue on a loop of yarn to hang."

"Drop about 3 small drops of water inside a glass ornament and sprinkle in some glitter. Shake. The glitter will stick to the inside of the ornament. Decorate with matching ribbon."

Hand Print Ornaments
"Roll out a lightweight clay such as crayola model magic compound. Make a circle wide enough for your child's hand. Have them imprint their hand. Let dry. Paint the handprint in red or green. Make holes around the rim of the circle and weave red and green ribbon all around the outside. Make a loop to hang it and write the child's name and the date on the back."

Embroidery Hoop Ornaments
"Stretch Christmas fabric between two small wooden embroidery hoops. Glue lace around the outside. Sew or glue on buttons."

Cornstarch Clay Ornaments
"Mix two cups of baking soda and one cup of cornstarch. Add 1-1/4 cups of water. Heat on the stove, stirring constantly for about five minutes until it looks and feels like mashed potatoes. Remove from heat, cover with a tight lid and refrigerate for about 45 minutes. Knead clay to make it easy to work with. Roll out to 1/4". Use Christmas cookie cutters to cut out the shapes. Make a small hole at the top of each with a toothpick. Let dry on a cake rack for 24 hours. Paint and decorate."

Recycled Ornaments
"Soak old glass ornaments overnight in one gallon of bleach and one container salt to remove the paint. Film inside can be removed by pouring in some salt and shaking with your finger over the opening. Your now have clear ornaments to decorate."

"Cover pinecones with glue. Sprinkle with glitter. Hot glue on a ribbon and add a hook."

Juice Can Lid Ornaments
"Use a marker to draw a design on the metal tops of frozen juice concentrates. Use a hammer and nail to punch holes on the outline. Hot glue a ribbon hanger on the top. The tree lights will show the design through the holes."

Mini Present Ornaments
Decorate a bow with sequins and glitter. Wrap up a piece of Lego in tinfoil and tie a small ribbon around it to look like a present. Glue to the middle of the bow. Glue red ribbon to the back of the bow for hanging."
