"I have lots of clothespins -- both the ones with the spring and the old fashioned ones. What can I make with these?"

valentine_card_display-small.gif (7064 bytes)What a creative bunch we have here! Our visitors submitted many good ideas. We're saving a few for the Spring but here's one of my favorites from Ronda of Trooper PA. This valentine card display can also be adapted for larger Christmas or birthday cards. Here's some of the other great ideas that were submitted...

Ideas using Flat Slotted Clothespins:

Duty Charts
Make duty charts and have a clothespin with each participants name it.
--Pat, Ontario, Canada

Christmas Decorations
Use vey small plaster of paris mold to make seasonal shapes and glue them on the spring clothespins for tree ornaments or card holders to clip to garland.
--Tricia A., Pasadena, CA

Bunny Magnets
Lay the clothespin flat on the table with the "head" of it at the bottom. The two long parts are the ears. Glue two small wiggle eyes on close to the top of the "head". Cut four 2 in. lengths of white thread for the whiskers. Put a dab of glue just under the eyes and lay the center of all lengths of thread in the glue. Put a small, pink pompom on top of the thread for the nose. Glue two slightly larger white pom poms right under the nose. These are the cheeks. Glue a magnet on the back.
--Brenda, Iowa

Wrestlers
Draw you favorite wrestlers on two flat slotted clothespins. Place rubberband around center of clothespins, then twist like winding a propeller. When tight, set them in the floor and watch them "wrestle".
--Darlene, Oakley, CA

Felt Banners
Tape two clothespins together -- prongs together. Cut a sheet of felt in half. Wrap felt around clothespins once and glue in place. Decorate using scraps of felt, fun foam, glitter glue, sequins.
--Liz, Littleton, CO

Angel
Make a set of wings from foam and glue to the back of the clothespin. Make a face with fine point markers. Glue on yarn for the hair. Make a halo out of a strand of pearl beads and glue to the top of the head.
--Anonymous

Snowmen
Just paint a tiny face on the front and put a small piece of material around the neck and put it in a clothespin holder.
--Janice, Waunakee, WI

Clothespin Dolls
Decorate with yarn and cloth and wiggle eyes to make dolls.
--Geralyn, Irwin, PA

Flower Plant Pokes
Paint the tops a light color for the flower center and the bottom green for the stem. Then use colored paper to cut out petals and glue them around the flower center. Paint a cute smile face in the center for a funny poke, or paint in a few dots for a more real looking one.
--Mrs. H.

Window Treatments
Hang laundry line across the top of the window. Use painted clothespins to hang matching dishtowels for curtains.

Ideas Using
Spring Clothespins:

Butterflies
Paint a large sized coffee filter and a clothespin. Gather the filter in the center and clip the clothespin on to make the body of the butterfly.

Thread the clothespins on the hang alternating the colors and adding a pony bead between each clothespin. Close the circle with a loop for hanging and tie on a big bow where it joins.
