Friendship Bracelet

A child's first friendship bracelet.

 

You need:

--Scrap of Plastic Canvas
(approx. 1/2" x 6")
--18" of Yarn, String or Cord
--Misc. Buttons

Instructions:

Talk to child(ren) about the joy of giving. Explain the tradition of swapping handmade "friendship bracelets" Encourage them to make one for a friend by suggesting that they make two. One to keep and one to give.

Stiffen ends of cord with white glue. Begin lacing at one end of canvas leaving 3" of cord for tying. Lace randomly across canvas adding buttons where desired.

Tip:

Make sure cord fits through buttons to prevent preschoolers from becoming frustrated.

Variations:

Use beads instead of buttons.
